MEET YOUR YOGA INSTRUCTORS
Dr. Josephine Appiah, PhD, MPH, is an avid health activist who aims to incorporate health into every sector. Josephine (or Dr. Jo to her colleagues) is a program manager at Capitol Impact, a social impact consulting firm dedicated to forging a better future for all Californians.
Prior to joining Capitol Impact, Josephine served as an Adjunct Instructor of Applied Health Sciences at Johnson & Wales University. She received her doctorate in Health Services Research from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte utilizing data to examine access, cost, and effectiveness of various health services. During this time, Josephine gained a deeper understanding about the physiological impacts of stress on health. With that knowledge, Josephine decided to take charge of her own stress and made her way to her first power yoga class and never looked back. With a renewed sense of energy and a passion to teach, she completed credentials to become a 200-hour registered yoga instructor (RYT) in 2019. Josephine aims to incorporate yoga and other healthy practices daily. You can often catch her at various brunch spots throughout Sactown, participating in Xoso cornhole/ kickball, or hopping into another community Yoga class!
